Ford issues recalls to reduce risk of car wrecks

Many of our North Carolina readers drive a Ford vehicle. While this automaker has been around for many years, it has had its fair share of problems along the way. Most recently, Ford issued a variety of recalls, with the biggest one involving approximately 166,000 Ford Escape SUVs and Ford Focus ST sedans. Of the 166,000 vehicles that have been recalled, 133,000 are in the United States.

Ford noted that some of these vehicles might have a wiring harness that was improperly manufactured. As a result of a poor electrical connection, the chance of an engine issue is much greater. In the most severe cases, this could lead to a reduction in engine output or stalling. As a result, the chance of an accident increases, putting the driver at risk.

This particular recall includes 2.0-liter Escapes that were manufactured between October 2011 and April 2013, as well as 2.0-liter Focus sedans built between February 2012 and October 2013.

Ford has noted that dealers will inspect any vehicle that was built during these timeframes, and replace any defective part free of charge.

There are many reasons for car wrecks, ranging from a defective vehicle part to a negligent driver to distracted driving. No matter the reason for this, the victim is faced with many challenges moving forward, including care related to injuries as well as financial concerns.

Regardless of the reason for a car wreck, the at-fault party does not always get away with causing an accident. In some cases, the victim may wish to file a claim to receive compensation.
