Emergency signs of spine injuries

When a person is involved in an accident, such as one in which two vehicles collide, there is always a concern that somebody could be injured. Spine injuries are extremely common in motor vehicle accidents, especially those in which one vehicle hits another from behind.

There are many emergency signs of spinal cord injury, including but not limited to:

-- Oddly positioned neck or back, such as being twisted

-- Difficulty breathing

-- Difficulty with walking or balancing

-- Tingling, numbness or loss of sensation in your fingers, hands, toes or feet

-- Weakness in a particular part of the body

-- Pain or pressure of the neck, back or head

If a person experiences any of these symptoms following a motor vehicle accident, it is imperative that he or she seeks immediate medical attention. There is a chance that the signs could be pointing towards a spine injury, which could require surgery or some other type of treatment.

There are times when people feel that they are okay after an accident, just to learn later on that they were actually seriously injured. If pain or other symptoms set in later on, it is once again a good idea to see what a doctor has to say.

Knowing the emergency signs of spine injuries could come in handy if you are ever involved in a motor vehicle accident, even if you are not the person who is injured. If a negligent party causes an accident in which a person suffers such a serious injury, it could result in a personal injury claim.
