May is Motorcycle Awareness Month

Spring is in full bloom, and summer is beginning to make its first appearance in North Carolina, and the month of May also marks the official start of motorcycle season. Every year, May is designated as Motorcycle Awareness Month as police and other officials urge drivers to look twice and always check for motorcycles sharing the road.

How a vehicle's black box can affect your car accident lawsuit

Most people are aware that commercial airplanes carry indestructible flight recorders that are commonly referred to as "black boxes". These devices have been around for years and they are generally used to record key information or events happening inside the plane. Information on the black box records such as audio traffic and the aircraft navigational history can be vital to crash scene investigators -- particularly when they are attempting to determine what may have caused an airline crash.

13 North Carolina officers arrested in drug trafficking sting

Those who are in a position of authority within the community have the responsibility to act accordingly and demonstrate the behavior they would wish their fellow citizens to show. However, this can sometimes cause the general public to put public servants such as police officers, firefighters or government officials, and forget that they too are human. When these citizens end up being brought up on criminal charges, news media outlets often run with the stories, seemingly forgetting that all defendants are innocent until proven guilty.

Trucking company sued after semi-truck left on train tracks

On May 1, two parties filed suit against the employer of a commercial tractor-trailer driver for an incident earlier this year that resulted in injuries for 55 passengers of an Amtrak train. According to documents filed with the federal court in Greenville, North Carolina, the National Railroad Passenger Corporation and CSX Transportation Inc., have alleged that a North Carolina trucking company is responsible for the March 9 collision of an Amtrak train with a semi-truck.
