Police say alcohol led to deadly accident that killed 1

A woman was killed in a car accident in Fairview, and two other people in the accident—the driver and another passenger—were injured. The woman who passed away was 37 years old. Now, as they investigate the crash, the authorities are saying that they believe alcohol was at least part of the reason for the accident.

The wreck happened out on Charlotte Highway, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol, who responded to the accident, said that it happened right around eight on Sunday evening.

The two who were injured were taken to Mission Health to get treatment. The surviving passenger in the vehicle was a 24-year-old man, and the driver was a 35-year-old man. Police gave that man a DWI at the crash site. They also reported that the woman did not make it to the hospital, but died at the scene.

The accident involved only the one vehicle, which was going west. It then crossed the centerline and left the roadway, slamming into a tree on the side of the road before it came to a stop. A state trooper who was asked said it wasn't an area where accidents were common. He stated that he'd lived close to the area for more than 20 years—since 1994—and that he couldn't remember any fatal accidents. He also noted that there could be more charges for the driver in the near future.

If you've lost a loved one to a drunk driver, even if he or she was in the same car as the driver, you may have a right to seek compensation for that loss.
