Young family killed in accident with semi-truck

Three people are dead after an accident in North Carolina, out on Interstate 40, that involved a semi-truck and a family car. There were at least four people in the vehicle at the time, but it appears that the driver survived the accident. She is 54 years old.

Those who passed away were a couple, a 32-year-old man and a 33-year old woman, along with their 10-month-old son. The woman who was driving the car was the grandmother to the young boy, though it is unclear if she was the mother to the man or the woman, as she has a different last name than either of them.

The accident happened when a semi-truck crossed the centerline, merging into the lane where the car was driving. This pushed the car off of the road, and it crashed into the trees on the side of the interstate.

The truck was taking a load of metal in to Charlotte. The police are blaming the truck driver for causing the deadly accident, as he's now been given three different counts of death by motor vehicle, which is a misdemeanor.

After emergency crews responded, they took the driver to get treatment at a hospital over in Asheville. No injuries to the truck driver have been reported at this time.

Due to their size, trucks can easily cause deadly accidents when even the smallest of mistakes are made. If you've been injured or if a member of your family has been killed in such an accident, be sure you know your rights to compensation.
