Scotland County accident kills teen just before graduation

It is more important than ever to look out for motorcycles. North Carolina has seen record numbers of visitors appear on bikes, looking to enjoy the natural beauty and legendary hospitality of the Tar Heel State.

Driving around motorcycles can be just as hard as biking around cars. Two-wheeled vehicles keep a low profile and are often harder to see. It takes patience and attention to detail to make sure one is not posing a danger to motorcycles and their riders.

The most convincing reasons to keep a look out for bikes are close to home, as record numbers of North Carolinians are responding to gas prices and other realities by buying motorcycles. One community is mourning the loss of an avid biker who was set to graduate high school less than a week after his death.

The 17-year-old boy was biking with his sister on Highway 401 when his motorcycle collided with a car. The force of the collision caused him fatal injuries and left his sister in critical condition. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident as Hoke County comes together to remember a bright smile and a kind heart.

"His mother and father will be there to receive his diploma for him," said the victim's uncle.

The survivors of those lost in motorcycle crashes may have little opportunity to recover their loss, but financial damages can help on the long road to recovery for a family. An attorney can help review the facts of a case and recommend the best move toward help.
